Sergio Ramos is one of the best central defenders in the world, and there is no surprise that Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the Real Madrid star.

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest

The London Evening Standard reported last month that Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho is keeping an eye on the situation of Ramos at Madrid.

The 34-year-old centre-back is out of contract at the European giants at the end of the season.

Ramos would be a blockbuster signing for Tottenham, but it seems that Madrid do not have any plans to let him leave.

Real Madrid’s stance

According to Defensa Central, Madrid president Florentino Perez wants the 34-year-old to stay.

Perez believes that Madrid’s interest in Bayern Munich star David Alaba is affecting Ramos, according to the report in the Spanish news outlet, which has added that due to the the Austria international being able to play in a number of positions, he is compatible with the Spaniard.

Unlikely Tottenham Hotspur transfer

It is unlikely that Ramos will leave Madrid in the January transfer window, and given his quality and importance to the team, the defending Spanish champions are likely to hand him a new deal and keep him beyond the summer of 2021.
