West Ham United reportedly failed with a bid for Real Betis star Aissa Mandi.

According to ABC Sevilla, Real Betis rejected a bid of up to €15million (£13.5million) from West Ham United for defender Aissa Mandi.
The Hammers splashed more than £100million on new signings this past summer, as Manuel Pellegrini was able to lure the likes of Issa Diop, Jack Wilshere, Andriy Yarmolenko and Felipe Anderson to the London Stadium.
However, with four defeats in four Premier League games, West Ham sit bottom of the table without even a single point, and no team have conceded more goals than the Hammers so far.
That’s even after bringing in right back Ryan Fredericks and two centre backs in Diop and Fabian Balbuena, with reports now emerging about a defender they failed to sign this summer.
ABC Sevilla report that West Ham offered a deal of around €12million to €15million (£10.8million and £13.5million) for Real Betis defender Aissa Mandi, only to see the offer rejected.
It’s claimed that West Ham then turned their attentions to signing Diop, and Betis are now nearing a new contract agreement with Mandi, which will include a termination clause of around €30million (£27million).

Algerian international Mandi, 26, joined Betis from French side Reims in 2016, and has shown himself to be capable at both centre back at right back, racking up 60 league appearances over the last two seasons.
Mandi and Diop don’t exactly have the same profile as players; Mandi is quick and technically strong for a defender, whereas Diop is big, strong and aerially dominant, but it seems that West Ham made moves for Mandi before securing Diop’s signature.
