It seems the performances of Pablo Hernandez at Leeds United have not been going unnoticed in his Spanish homeland.

The 31-year-old, on loan at Leeds from Al-Arabi in Qatar, has been in impressive form in recent weeks.

He scored what proved to be the winning goal against Barnsley at the weekend and also netted a fantastic strike against Cardiff City in mid-September.

Those performances have seen him hailed in Spanish publication Vavel this week. They write that his presence has steadied Leeds’ midfield in the absence of the sold Lewis Cook and that he took the game by the scruff of the neck against the Tykes on Saturday.

The praise from Spain will certainly be welcomed by Hernandez, who has been something of an enigma in recent years.

He has scored one goal and has four caps for the Spanish national team from his time at Valencia but has found mixed success during stints at Swansea, Al-Nasr and Rayo Vallecano.

Now he is playing in a more central role and getting the freedom to roam at Leeds he is clearly starting to thrive again.

Already something of a cult hero among the Leeds faithful, hopefully he can continue to impress punters both in Yorkshire and at home.
