Quite where the former Tottenham man ends up, though, remains to be seen.
A report from Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo today claims that the Merseyside outfit attempted to sign Bale last summer, and were offered €70 million (£61.4 million) plus the services of Philippe Coutinho – a proposal that was subsequently rejected by Madrid.
The Reds obviously went on to sell the Brazilian to Barcelona in the summer for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £145 million, so it could be argued that the package they reportedly offered Los Blancos last summer was worth in excess of £200 million.
If Bale is made available for transfer this summer, Liverpool could very well go back in for the Wales international, and what an excellent signing the would be.
