Is Samu Saiz heading for Leeds United?

Leeds United’s move for Huesca attacker Samu Saiz could be making progress, with Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reporting an update on the situation.

La Liga side Eibar have all-but given up on his signing, moving for an alternative, and Mundo Deportivo report Samu Saiz prefers to move to England, specifically the Championship.

The financial offer Leeds have made is most tempting, with it claimed Saiz could be set to earn one million euros per year if he joins the Whites.

The report states: “Samu Saiz has been seduced by the greater economic offer that has come from English football and would prefer to play in the Championship, the English second division, rather than in the First Division (in Spain).”

Leeds are the only English team in for Saiz, who scored 12 goals and provided nine assists last season.

Closing in

A deal could be progressing rapidly, with Mundo Deportivo reporting Saiz could be heading for a medical at Leeds tomorrow (Tuesday).

The report states: “El Eibar as well as other BBVA League clubs that targeted the player, Alavés and Málaga, can not compete with the offer from Leeds United , with whom it is speculated that he could pass the medical examination tomorrow.”

Leeds have already struck one deal since Thomas Christiansen was appointed as manager, signing Mateusz Klich from FC Twente in a quickly concluded deal.
