Spanish news outlet AS have been busy raving about Leeds striker Rafa Mujica, after he scored his first goal for Las Palmas against Almeria.
The side from La Liga 2 were unfortunately defeated 3-1 by Almeria, who are well in with a chance of securing promotion – in that respect, there’s no harm in losing to them.
While some of his teammates probably didn’t bring their A-game hence the defeat, it sounds as if Mujica delivered a fantastic display.
AS described the Marcelo Bielsa signing as ‘the most outstanding footballer’ for Las Palmas in the 3-1 defeat.
It was Mujica’s first start for Las Palmas, and AS say that he was ‘very active’ throughout the game – his trickery even caused Ivanildo to receive a yellow card.
AS add that the out-on-loan Leeds forward constantly battled with Almeria’s defenders and midfielders, and didn’t disappoint on his first start.
It’s great to see the youngster get off to a good start with Las Palmas, the side who occupy the city of his birth.
In familiar surroundings, he should be in the perfect environment to thrive.
If he keeps this form up, then perhaps Bielsa will be thinking about adding him to his first-team squad to compete with Rodrigo and Patrick Bamford.
