Spanish news outlet AS have written a piece about Rodrigo’s time at Leeds so far, and they have some interesting opinions to share.
AS discuss the 25-cap Spain international’s chances of leading the line for his country at EURO 2021 this summer, after a stuttering start to life at Elland Road.
In their view, they feel that Marcelo Bielsa is to blame for Rodrigo’s poor form so far, and the consequential damage that has done to his standing in Luis Enrique’s squad.
AS suggest that the Leeds boss is using Rodrigo incorrectly, playing him as a No.10 when he should be the ‘offensive reference’ – a No.9 type, we believe.
The Spanish news outlet don’t stop there.

They add that Bielsa’s ‘crazy’ playing style, which can make Leeds look incredible one week, and flat the next, isn’t helping Rodrigo gain much momentum.
AS do cut the ex-Marseille boss some slack in saying that the ex-Bolton striker is struggling with the physical nature of the Premier League.
However, the piece is rounded off by saying that ‘time is ticking’ for the 29-year-old to find himself in England.

If he doesn’t, then he risks losing his spot to those in better form than him, such as Alvaro Morata and Iago Aspas.
In defence of Bielsa, he uses Patrick Bamford as his out-and-out No.9, so that role isn’t really an option for Rodrigo.
In our view, the Leeds No.20 just needs to keep going, keep himself fit and work on how to play behind Bamford as a No.10.
