Liverpool have reportedly offered a contract to Franck Kessie.
On December 31, it was reported by ANSA that Liverpool had submitted a ‘very interesting’ offer for the AC Milan midfielder.
At the moment, the Ivory Coast international is leaving San Siro on a Bosman when his contract expires this summer.
And according to a report from Spain, there’s been a major development which favours the Anfield outfit.
Sport journalist Thomas Andreau has revealed that Barcelona have withdrawn their interest in signing Kessie this summer.
Transfer boost
The Spanish publication reports that the Camp Nou club cannot afford Kessie’s financial demands.
And if a powerhouse like Barca is out of the equation then that has to be considered very good for other suitors, like Liverpool.
Say what you want about Barcelona but they remain a massive draw despite losing Lionel Messi last summer and any player would love to be involved in the rebuild.
And the truth is that Liverpool do stand more chance of signing Kessie if a powerhouse like this is out of the running.
Of course, there’s going to be an array of other outfits interested in a Bosman of this calibre, with Juventus also in the reckoning [Sport].
However, Liverpool are one of Europe’s biggest and best clubs and if the Reds can match Kessie’s financial demands – said to be a salary of around £163,000 per week – then Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards have every chance.
