Leeds United and Everton are reportedly facing stiff competition from Valencia for Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

ESPN reported in July of interest in Romero from Leeds and Everton, but it seems that Valencia have stolen a march on the two Premier League clubs.

The Mirror has reported that the La Liga outfit have made contact with United regarding the signing of the Argentina international goalkeeper.

The report has claimed that the Spanish club are willing to pay £6 million as transfer fee for the 33-year-old and are hoping that they will be able to complete a move.

Missing out?

Leeds could do with a new senior goalkeeper this summer. Illan Meslier and Kiko Casilla are the two main players between the posts at the Whites, and The Daily Mail reported in August that the West Yorkshire club are willing to sell the Spaniard.

Jordan Pickford is the number one goalkeeper at Everton, but the England international has made mistakes in recent seasons and need strong competition.

Romero is a very experienced goalkeeper who has 96 caps for Argentina, and he would be a very good signing for Leeds or Everton, but it seems that Valencia are in the driving seat now.
