The Leeds United striker Rafa Mujica has joined Extremadura on loan, the Spanish club have announced.

Mujica is a new arrival at Leeds, having joined the Whites at the end of his Barcelona contract this summer, and has yet to appear in a competitive fixture for his parent club.

Given the youngster’s background, his signing was met with much excitement by the Elland Road faithful.

But they may be forced to wait a while to see him in action, with Mujica set to spend the coming season back in his homeland.

Extremadura currently play in Spain’s Championship equivalent and came 13th last term.

Mujica previously appeared on three occasions at that level for Barcelona’s B team and will hopefully, from a Leeds perspective, get to add to his experience this campaign.
