Spain fans react to reported Tottenham Hotspur target Marco Asensio's display

Tottenham Hotspur were said to be ready to make an offer to Real Madrid for Marco Asensio.

Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Marco Asensio has been hammered by Spanish fans for his latest performance for the national side.

Just a fortnight ago, it was reported that Tottenham were ready to make an £88 million offer to Real Madrid for Asensio this summer by El Confidencial.

But the playmaker’s latest performance for Spain is unlikely to have convinced Mauricio Pochettino that he is ready to be Christian Eriksen’s replacement at Tottenham.

Spain won 2-0 against Sweden last night, but Asensio struggled to get involved.

And the widespread reaction from Spain and Madrid fans was to suggest that the Tottenham man is completely overrated.

Asensio may well need a new start, so a move to Spurs could appeal, if it is on offer.

The 23-year-old has previously been regarded as a star of tomorrow, but his progress does seem to have stalled at Madrid.

If Asensio was brought to Spurs he would likely require them to break their transfer record.
