Chelsea youngster Dominic Solanke yesterday scored a goal against Portugal which was almost a carbon copy to one of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry’s best.
Long-serving England under-17 manager John Peacock is knocking on the door of yet another European Championship trophy as he watched his young Lions put Portugal the sword in a thrilling 2-0 win.
England found themselves under pressure for much of the early stages. However, they burst into life emphatically with two world-class goals.
The Chelsea star was the first to strike with a goal that can only be compared to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry’s goal against Aston Villa in 2006. It is a goal that is for many one of the best he scored in an Arsenal shirt and one of the best goals in Premier League history.

The second goal, which was scored by Fulham youngster Patrick Roberts could also be considered a goal worthy of the quality of the Arsenal legend. The 17-year-old, who has made two Premier League appearances, went on a mazy run which ended in him firing the ball in at the back post.
The win against Portugal mean the young England side storm into the UEFA under-17 European Championship final where they will face a fancied Holland on Wednesday. Nevertheless, if the England prospects can replicate such fine football then it would take a superb performance from the Dutch to stop them.
