The statistic that shows Tottenham Hotspur should sell Etienne Capoue to Sevilla?

No Tottenham Hotspur player has a lower point-per-game ratio than Etienne Capoue this season

Tottenham Hotspur have picked up an average of just 1.17 points per game when Etienne Capoue has been in the team – an average that if spread over the campaign would have them lower mid-table based on last season’s standings.

In fact, when compared to his main competition for a spot in the Spurs side, Nabil Bentaleb, the difference couldn’t be more evident.

Nevertheless, according to Get French Football via London 24, Tottenham could sell the player this January, as La Liga side Sevilla are said to be sniffing around the man who has been rated at £10 million.

The 26-year-old has started 11 of Spurs’s 22 league games and hasn’t been involved in the Premier League, aside from a 21-minute cameo against Crystal Palace at the beginning of the month, since November.

In his last two appearances, both coming in the cup against Leicester City and Burnley respectively, Capoue was part of a side that conceded four goals in the two games. However, he did redeem himself by netting the second against Burnley in a game the North London side went on to win 4-2.

If Mauricio Pochettino can get £10 million for the out-of-favour midfielder then it would have to be seen by all parties as good business by the club as it would allow them to invest elsewhere.

Although statistics may not tell the whole story, the midfielder’s point-per-game ratio should be a worry as it clearly shows something isn’t right in the side when he plays.
