Reports suggest Chelsea have made contact with the agent of Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos
According to the Independent, Chelsea have contacted Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos’ agent in the hope of landing the world class centre back.
Ramos, 28, has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge on a number of occasions this window, but assumed to be out of the race when Carlo Ancelotti announced the Spanish international signing a new deal at the club as a formality.
‘’His importance for the team grows bigger with each day that passes,’’ Ancelotti was quoted as saying in the Independent. ‘’I don’t think he’s worried about his contract renewal.’’
Although the free-kick taking centre back would be a massive coup for Chelsea, the idea that Madrid would allow him to leave for anything other than an eye-watering bid seems unlikely.
Last season, in Madrid’s Champions League winning season, he was ever-present both in La Liga and the European competition and earned huge praise for his impact in their success.
This season, he has been equally as impressive and started in 16 of Madrid’s 19 league matches and four of their six Champions League matches.
Nevertheless, if Chelsea were to somehow snap the Spaniard up, it would be seen as the perfect replacement to John Terry, whose contract expires at the end of the season, in the heart of the Blues defence.
