5 players to look out for in the Football League this weekend; Derby County, Reading, Leicester City, Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers players’ involved.
A busy Saturday in the Football League should provide fantastic entertainment as a few of the giants go head to head.
Leicester City host Nottingham Forest in a local derby that should be an exciting affair, with Leicester still looking strong and aiming for a top spot finish this season, they will need to beat the teams that will be around them at the end of the season and an out-of-sorts Forest side look almost condemned to defeat before the game has kicked off.
Pride Park will be packed to the rafters Saturday with a grudge match over Sheffield Wednesday that provided incredible excitement last season, in both games Derby found themselves 2-0 up after a strong start, only to come away with a point after both games ended 2-2.
Leeds United carry on their assault up the table in London as they travel to Charlton and relegated Premier League team’s Reading and Queens Park Rangers meet at the Madejski Stadium in the other big games at the weekend.
I’m going to look at the players that could make the difference this weekend;
Chris Martin – Derby – The big striker had a frustrating game against the QPR defenders in the last game and will be looking to put that right on Saturday, where his quality and presence on the ball will be a worry for Dave Jones men. Affectionately known as ‘Fat Berbatov’ by Derby fans – they will be hoping their man makes a difference this weekend.
Sean Morrison– Reading – Stocky centre-back Sean Morrison will be hungry to put things right on Saturday in another key battle in the Championship with QPR. Charlie Austin will be the danger man in the game and Reading will need their influential defender at the top of his.
David Nugent- Leicester City– The experienced striker likes a derby day goal, both Forest and Derby have previously felt the presence caused by the classy forward in the past, and in some of the best form of his career, you would back him to net against a Forest side leaking goals.
Rodolph Austin – Leeds United – The Jamaican footballer has been the integral part in a Leeds side that has managed to get within reaching distance of the play-offs. Leeds have been dragged into grinding out wins this season, and Charlton will not make it easy for Leeds to dominate, so therefore the combative midfielder will have to be on form once again.
Jason Lowe – Blackburn – The young utility player has been in good form recently and bagged his first goal last weekend and seems to be in a buoyant mood and ready to push on. With confidence sky high it will be interesting to see how he gets on in the game Saturday.
