Derby County and Middlesbrough are both flying high in the league but who has had the greater impact on results – Liverpool’s Jordon Ibe or Chelsea’s Patrick Bamford?
Derby County and Middlesbrough currently occupy two of the top three positions in the Championship, but who out of Patrick Bamford and Jordon Ibe has made the biggest impact to their loan side’s results?
We take a look at the statistics of several different aspects of their game and show whether it’s the Chelsea or Liverpool prospects currently showing more promise in the Football League.
Goals & Scoring Attempts:
| Team | Goals | Attempt on Goal | Shot on Target | Shot off Target | Blocked Shot | Hit Woodwork | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Patrick Bamford | Middlesbrough | 4 | 26 | 8 | 12 | 6 | 0 | 690 |
| Jordon Ibe | Derby | 4 | 22 | 8 | 9 | 5 | 0 | 668 |
The point for this aspect has to go to the on-loan Liverpool attacker due to the greater efficiency of his goal to shot ratio. Both Ibe and Bamford have recorded the same amount of goals and shots on target but the Chelsea forward has seen more of his shots blocked and off target. Point: Jordon Ibe.
Assists & Key Passes:
| Team | Assists | Key Passes | Accurate Attempted Assist | Inaccurate Attempted Assist | Big Chance Created | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Patrick Bamford | Middlesbrough | 0 | 5 | 3 | 2 | 0 | 690 |
| Jordon Ibe | Derby | 0 | 8 | 3 | 4 | 1 | 668 |
The 18-year-old Liverpool star once again trumps the 21-year-old Chelsea forward in a key attacking area. Although there isn’t much between them, Ibe has made more key passes and seals the victory due to his one big chance created. Nevertheless, both players should be fairly disappointed that after nearly 700 minutes on the pitch neither have recorded an assist. Point: Jordon Ibe.
Dribbling & Battles:
| Team | Total Dribbles | Successful Dribbles | Overrun | Physical Duels Won | Physical Duels Lost | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jordon Ibe | Derby | 63 | 32 | 4 | 47 | 67 | 668 |
| Patrick Bamford | Middlesbrough | 8 | 4 | 0 | 29 | 65 | 690 |
In the most clear cut contest between the two yet, Jordon Ibe wins on almost all aspects analysed but shines on the amount of successful dribbles taken and physical duels won. Although the difference between the two player’s games can be clearly seen here as Ibe clearly shows more willing to run at his man, the dribble success rate is very similar. However, when you take into account how many dribbles Ibe has attempted, he is the stand out winner. Point: Jordon Ibe.
Passing & Possession:
| Team | Total Pass | Accurate Pass | Fwd Pass | Backward Pass | Ball Recovery | Poss Lost All | Dispossessed | Touches | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jordon Ibe | Derby | 248 | 213 | 41 | 91 | 33 | 136 | 27 | 437 | 668 |
| Patrick Bamford | Middlesbrough | 157 | 112 | 36 | 45 | 22 | 82 | 13 | 266 | 690 |
In the last aspect analysed, the results are a fairly mixed bag. Ibe has made more passes with a better accuracy but favours to go backwards a lot more than his competitor. The Liverpool man is also more likely to retrieve the ball for his side but is far more likely to lose it too. However, based on how many touches Ibe has in comparison to his rival, the Liverpool made shades this last aspect too. Point: Jordon Ibe.
Both players will have huge roles to play in the Championship this season if their loan side is to win a place in the Premier League. Ibe, who helped the Rams to a 2-1 win over promotion rivals Watford on Saturday, will have to keep up his good form if he isn’t to lose his place in the side following Jamie Ward’s return, while Bamford just has to keep putting the ball in the net in order to prove he is worth a starting position in the Middlesbrough XI.
