The 19-year-old, who has featured for Louis van Gaal’s side in the League Cup, has reportedly not been offered any assurances over his future in England and now could follow the footsteps of Paul Pogba.
In 2012, after making just seven first team appearances for United, Pogba decided to leave England to join the Turn-based Serie A side in his quest for first team football. He went on to make a huge impact in his first season in Italy, scoring five goals in 27 league games, and has since been named FIFA World Cup Best Young Player in 2014.
The Frenchman represents an example Van Gaal will be desperate for Pereira not to follow.
Should United push the boat out in order to convince Pereira to stay?
United fans will be keen that the Belgium youth international doesn’t turn into another Pogba and will be undoubtedly be delighted if the youngster is signed up.
If he does sign, the talented teenager will obviously want first team assurances and with the options Van Gaal currently has available that could be a hard thing to promise the youngster.
Nevertheless, Van Gaal does need to do everything in his power in order to stop the teenager from leaving the club for next to nothing.
At 19, he still has the world at his feet and given his form shown for the Under-21 side this season, which included a goal against Sunderland on Monday night, he is someone the club should be desperate to keep hold of.
