Could James Maddison’s mum steer him in direction of Liverpool move?

The Norwich City man has revealed that his mum is a fan of Liverpool; a club he has been heavily linked with this season.

It has been widely reported that Norwich City’s James Maddison is set for a big move to the Premier League this summer, and an unlikely figure could have a big say on where the 21-year-old ends up next season.

Maddison’s 15 goals and eight assists have seen him linked with a £30 million move to Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, but in recent days Jurgen Klopp‘s Liverpool have emerged as front-runners for his signature, with the Daily Express reporting that a deal is close.

And one person who will be delighted by those rumours is Maddison’s mother Una, who is a Reds fan, according to the midfielder.

Speaking to the Guardian about the recent PFA Awards, he said: “We had Mo Salah on the table next to us. I took my mum, a big Liverpool fan, with me and she was in awe of him, as was I to be honest.”

While Canaries fans will be hoping the England Under-21 play-maker decides to stay at Carrow Road next season, it is hard for any young player to not have their head turned by interest from a Premier League club; especially the one your mum supports.

It is clear that Maddison has a huge decision to make this summer, but his mind could be made up if his mum does give him a nudge in the direction of Anfield.
