Karius made two blunders in Liverpool’s 3-1 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid on Saturday night.

Danny Murphy has had his say on Loris Karius‘s goalkeeping display against Real Madrid, and it is not good for the Liverpool stopper.
Murphy, who made 170 Reds appearances between 1997 and 2004, believes that Karius’s days are numbered at Anfield after his howlers in Kiev.

He told talkSPORT: “I actually feel sorry for him. Nobody goes into a game wanting to make mistakes.
“Unfortunately I don’t think he’ll play in a Liverpool shirt again. It’s impossible for him.
“I think with the magnitude of the mistakes and the enormity of the game, the supporters will struggle with him being in goal for them and the continual ribbing he will get week in, week out, wherever he goes – that’s going to be huge pressure for him.
“I just can’t see him playing again.”
Karius’s errors may have cost Liverpool the game on Saturday night, but to suggest his career at Anfield is over is wide of the mark.
Jurgen Klopp put his faith in Karius last season and he has largely been repaid by the German ‘keeper, who turned in some impressive performances during Liverpool’s run to the Champions League final.

His mistakes will take a long time to forget but it is worth remembering that Karius is only 24, and being subject to such negative comments could affect his career in the long term.
Klopp is not a manager to turn his back on players who are in a rut – take Dejan Lovren for example – so it is almost certain that the former Mainz 05 man will be at Liverpool next season.

He will likely be pushed down the pecking order, with Liverpool linked to Roma’s Alisson in recent days, but a period out of the spotlight could be beneficial for Karius if he is to gain full confidence again after Saturday’s horror show.
