Nottingham Forest have escaped punishment from the Football League after settling a cash row with Chelsea regarding the Nathaniel Chalobah loan move.
The Telegraph reported the Championship club will escape the punishment of a transfer embargo due to late payments of loan fees after the club paid Chelsea a lump sum last week.
According to the report, the Football League was considering taking action against the play-off hopefuls after Chelsea grew frustrated at the delay in resolving outstanding money owed from Chalobah’s spell at the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest were reportedly paying a significant portion of the youngster’s estimated £40,000-a-week wage, as well as a loan fee. And because of the money spent on this particular transfer, it has been voiced as one of Forest’s worst signings this season.
The 19-year-old frustrated supporters with his underwhelming performances and despite making 13 appearances for the club, he did not complete a full match.
The latest incident may be a simple mix-up, but it could well have implications as to whether Chelsea are willing to do business with Forest in the near future if the Blues take a dim view.
