Manchester United midfielder Adnan Januzaj provided a MOTM performance in their win against Swansea City, keeping the boo boys quiet for at least for another week.
Manchester United got a much needed win against Swansea City Saturday, taking the weight off the manager’s shoulders following 3 defeats on the bounce. For Swansea, however, defeat at Old Trafford means that it’s 7 Premier League games without a win.
Moyes endured a tense first half which saw his side create and miss several key chances, including a Danny Welbeck sitter.
Fortunately for Moyes and the Manchester United fans, however, winger Antonio Valencia was able to break the deadlock straight after the restart, and this was followed up 12 minutes later when Welbeck scored his 6th goal in 9 games, adding substance to the claim he is up to the task of being a Manchester United number 9. And Manchester United very nearly made it three through Shinji Kagawa, who found himself frustrated by Leon Britton’s goal-line clearance.
This deserved victory will mean that Manchester United can look forward with more confidence to next Sunday’s visit to Chelsea – a game that they must surely must not lose if they are to remain in the hunt for a Champions league slot come the end of the season.
Saturday saw another Januzaj masterclass, a performance that will also set him up going into the Chelsea game. Manchester United’s best player on the day produced 40 passes from 69 touches, with a pass accuracy of 80%. He supplied 10 crosses, made 2 goalscoring opportunities and tried his luck with 3 shots – hitting the bar on one occasion.
Moyes will take comfort that, whatever his current difficulties, Welbeck continues to score and Januzaj is repeatedly demonstrating what a quality player he is.
