Well, it doesn’t look like Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy will be replacing Jose Mourinho with Erik Ten Hag.
The Daily Mail reported on Thursday that the Ajax boss was interested in becoming Tottenham’s next head coach.
Spurs are in the market for a new boss after firing Mourinho last week, with the club languishing seventh in the Premier League table.
Plenty of names have been linked but the Dutchman is unlikely to be joining in spite of The Daily Mail‘s report yesterday.
That’s because Ajax announced earlier today that they have signed Ten Hag up to a new contract which should, in theory, see him stay in Amsterdam a while longer.
It was the latest in a series of blows for Levy, who saw top target Julian Naglesmann join Bayern Munich, Brendan Rodgers claim he wasn’t interested in the Tottenham job and Jesse Marsch also snubbing interest.
Here’s how Ajax fans reacted to Ten Hag’s new contract:
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed on Twitter earlier today that Ten Hag could still join Tottenham, despite the new contract.
But you have to wonder why he would knowingly infuriate the Dutch fans by luring them into a false sense of security, only to leave after penning a new deal.
For now, it looks like Levy will have to keep searching.
