Southampton midfielder Stuart Armstrong is a former teammate of Ryan Christie at Celtic.

Armstrong played with midfielder Christie when he was at Celtic, and the 27-year-old is also a teammate of the 24-year-old for the Scotland national football team.
The former Dundee United star – who joined the Saints from Celtic in the summer of 2018 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £7 million – has been impressed with the progress made by Christie.
Armstrong told The Scottish Sun about Christie: “I have always been a fan of Ryan’s ability. He came to Celtic from Inverness when I was there.
“Then he went out on loan which was very good for his development but I thought he was good enough to be at Celtic at that time.
“He has come back and shown everyone what a good player he is. He is dynamic, has good energy and can score goals. He is a really good guy.”
Important player
Christie struggled initially at Celtic after joining from Inverness Caledonian Thistle, but the midfielder’s loan spells at Aberdeen made a huge difference in his confidence and performance level.
The midfielder has now established himself as an important player for the Hoops and is playing quite regularly at the moment.
According to WhoScored, the Scotland international midfielder has scored four goals in five Scottish Premiership appearances and four goals in six Champions League qualifiers, and has all played in two Europa League qualifiers for Celtic so far this season.
