The Southampton striker would be an excellent addition to the Swansea City squad.

Swans boss Paul Clement still has a lot of work to do before the transfer window closes, if he is to build a squad capable of enjoying a successful Premier League campaign, or at the very least improve upon last season’s 15th place finish in the table.

The addition of an established, hard-working centre-forward to help supplement the qualities of Tammy Abraham will surely feature highly on Clement’s wish-list, and with this in mind, he should consider a move for Saints hitman Shane Long.

The 30-year-old striker is renowned for the selfless work that he puts in for his team, with his tireless runs into the channels becoming a key facet to his game, and his inclusion in the Swansea side would undoubtedly help to free up space for the likes of Abraham to operate in.

The 71-capped Republic of Ireland international is vastly experienced in playing at the very highest level, and his nouse and know-how would certainly offer the Welsh outfit something that little bit different in the final third.

Long is incredibly strong in the challenge, and excels when playing with his back to goal and holding the ball up. His aerial strength would offer Clement the ability to mix up his tactics, should the need for a Plan B arise, which would in turn make Swansea less predictable to play against.

The Irishman still has three years remaining on his current deal at St Mary’s, however, so he will not come cheap, but the Swans boss should do everything within his power to bring him to the Liberty Stadium before the transfer window slams shut, nevertheless.
