The Saints beat Wolves 3-1 to take another giant leap towards Premier League survival.

Southampton have taken another huge step towards Premier League safety thanks to a superb 3-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
The Saints were quick out of the starting blocks as Nathan Redmond opened the scoring against the FA Cup semi-finalists just two minutes into the game at St Mary’s.
Josh Sims, making his first Premier League start this season, squared the ball to the feet Redmond, who rifled high past Rui Patricio at the near post.
Although Wolves defender Willy Boly drew the visitors level with a header on 28 minutes, Southampton were ahead two minutes later when Redmond clipped a shot over Patricio.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s charges had to wait a while to pull clear but on 71 minutes Shane Long added a third when he slotted home from close range after good work from Maya Yoshida.
When the Austrian coach took over before the festive period, Saints were 18th in the table with nine points from 15 games, but they’re now eight points clear of the bottom three with five games to go.
