The Saints ace scored nine goals for the St Mary’s Stadium outfit last season, showing much progress under Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Southampton legend Danny Wallace has challenged Nathan Redmond to take his scoring tally into double figures next season, in conversation with the Daily Echo.
The 25-year-old had been struggling for the Saints up until December, when Ralph Hasenhuttl took the reins at St Mary’s Stadium following the departure of Mark Hughes, and he has not looked back.
In 43 appearances in all competitions, Redmond scored nine goals and registered six assists (Transfermarkt), all of his goals coming after the Austrian coach took over, and as such he earned a place in Gareth Southgate’s provisional England squad for June’s UEFA Nations League finals.
Though he did not make the full squad, the initial call-up nonetheless proved just how far he had come in a relatively short amount of time, and ahead of what looks to be a promising 2019-20 campaign for the St Mary’s outfit, Wallace is confident the winger will improve further.

“I’ve been looking at him and he has been very impressive whenever I’ve seen him play,” Wallace, who scored 64 goals for Southampton, told the Daily Echo. “He scored a few goals last season and I feel that he has got similar traits to me: he is quick and likes taking players on.
“He has got to keep his mind on the game and try and progress. He should aim to get more goals next season than he got in the previous one. When I was playing, I always looked for double figures in goals. He was a bit unlucky last season, ending with nine, but I think he will aim to beat that next season.”
To date. Redmond has made 129 appearances for Southampton since his move from Norwich City, scoring 18 goals and picking up 11 assists in all competitions, according to Transfermarkt.
