Southampton fans have been reacting on Twitter after watching Nathan Redmond’s performance in their clash with Stoke City which saw Mauricio Pellegrino’s men go into the international break off the back of another defeat.

The Saints had won twice in all competitions so far this season heading into the game at the Bet365 Stadium, with finding the back of the net proving to be their Achilles heel.

Southampton had failed to score in five of their seven games this term, so Pellegrino would have looked for a much improved performance from the likes of Shane Long, Steven Davis, Dusan Tadic and Redmond, who all started in the front four.

Unfortunately, the Saints ended up coming away from the game with nothing as Mame Biram Diouf’s opener was cancelled out by centre-back Maya Yoshida’s equaliser, before Southampton old boy Peter Crouch scored a late winner to leave Pellegrino’s men in the bottom-half of the table heading into the break.

Nathan Redmond of Southampton is dejected after the Premier League match between Southampton and Manchester United at St Mary's Stadium on September 23, 2017 in Southampton, England.

The defeat appears to have left a lot of supporters extremely frustrated on social media – it is not difficult to see why when, according to BBC Sport, the Saints put just three of their 21 attempts on goal on target, while four top flight players have outscored Southampton’s entire side this term – and much of their frustration appeared to be aimed at Redmond.

The 23-year-old – signed for £10 million in 2016 (via BBC Sport) – has failed to score any of the Saints’ five goals this term, and has contributed just one assist, and the fans appear to believe that it is time to leave the former Norwich City man out of the team.

Here is the best of the reaction…
