Nathan Jones’ Southampton have submitted a new £17.5 million offer to sign Kamaldeen Sulemana from Rennes in January.

Southampton launch new offer for Kamaldeen Sulemana

It seems as if the competition for the talented winger is heating up in the Premier League, with Everton also interested in his signature, as reported by Foot Mercato on OneFootball.

However, it seems as if Southampton are hell-bent on signing Kamaldeen Sulemana, making a new £17.5 million offer to convince Rennes to sell their coveted gem, according to a report by L’Equipe.

It has been claimed that initially, the Saints put in a £13.1 million bid alongside £1.7 million in bonuses to ensure they wrap up a deal for the Ghanaian international, who was once billed as an ‘exceptional player’ by Erik ten Hag (via Modern Ghana).

However, this time around, the new offer made by Southampton to sign Sulemana does not include any bonuses as well.

The question remains whether Rennes will be content with the offer, as they are clearly holding out for a significant fee for one of the brightest talents currently plying his trade in European football.

Sulemana would be an excellent coup for the Saints

While the Saints have a number of exciting options at left-wing such as Samuel Edozie, Miroslav Orsic, Moussa Djenepo and Mohammed Elyounoussi, none may have the ceiling their 20-year-old target does.

As a result, one can completely understand why Southampton decided to submit a new offer just to sign Kamaldeen Sulemana in January.

Since Nathan Jones’ arrival, the club have looked increasingly in danger to suffer relegation.

While it is common to harp on about the need for a guaranteed goalscorer, the same can be said about a creator, or the lack thereof for sides at the bottom.

If Southampton see their new offer get accepted for Kamaldeen Sulemana, they will be getting a player who can create and score goals for fun.
