The Saints academy graduate, on loan at Gillingham, scored a sensational free kick dubbed ‘Prowsey-esque’ for the St Mary’s U23s last term.

Southampton prodigy Tom O’Connor has taken to Twitter to celebrate a landmark moment in his career, namely scoring his first professional goal on loan at Gillingham, and some fans also complimented him on the social media platform.
On Tuesday night, the Gills travelled to Bristol Rovers in League One and the home side took a 38th-minute lead, striker Tyler Smith getting the better of the opposition defence and lashing a low drive past Jack Bonham from 15 yards.
But Gillingham persevered and were rewarded for their late pressure when Mark Marshall crossed deep from the right and, although Anssi Jaakola parried Connor Ogilvie’s volley, O’Connor was on hand to net the rebound from six yards.
Here is what O’Connor said on Twitter, plus some of the replies:
The 20-year-old defensive midfielder was the Southampton Under-23s captain last season and provided a moment of magic in a Premier League 2 game against Aston Villa, scoring a wonderful free kick which the Saints social media channel spliced with the BT Sport pundits’ wild celebration doing the rounds at the time.
Needless to say it got a pretty good reaction, including from the admins at Bayer Leverkusen, while one fan described it as “Prowsey-esque”:
