Southampton have suffered a major fitness blow with Kyle Walker-Peters now set to miss out on playing against Arsenal tomorrow.

The club’s official website confirmed that the right-back would no longer be fit to play against Arsenal, with Southampton now struggling in both full-back positions.

“It looks that he can definitely not make it tomorrow – this is another setback for us, to be honest,” Ralph Hasenhüttl said.

“It’s the quad area, he’s got some problems. He only warmed up a little bit today and then felt some problems so had to stop.

The Saints were already set to be without Ryan Bertrand, after he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in Southampton’s game against Arsenal in the FA Cup at the weekend.

The news that Walker-Peters is set to be out is now a further blow to Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side’s chances, as their defence could take on a rather unfamiliar look.

Walker-Peters actually caused Arsenal plenty of problems on Saturday, with the ex-Tottenham youngster helping them to score the only goal of the contest.

But his absence means that Southampton may now have to call upon other options on either side of their backline.

If Southampton can beat Arsenal tomorrow then they could climb as high as sixth in the Premier League table, if other results go in their favour.
