Morgan Schneiderlin, Dusan Tadic and Graziano Pelle all understandably feature…
GK – Foster
Like most Premier League sides, both Southampton and Stoke City have very good goalkeepers. Fraser Forster edges into this combined XI based on this season’s form, though. On experience, it’s Asmir Begovic.
RB – Clyne
Nathaniel Clyne continues the Southampton theme at right-back, following a very impressive start to the campaign indeed.
CB – Fonte
At centre-back, the experienced Jose Fonte has also impressed considerably.
CB – Shawcross
Despite Toby Alderweireld’s strong start for the Saints, experience is being favoured once again with Ryan Shawcross, despite his tendency to get booked.
LB – Bertrand
It is back to St Mary’s for the left-back position, though, with Chelsea loanee Ryan Bertrand also flying high for Southampton. Ronald Koeman’s full-backs are simply irresistible at the moment.
CM – Davis
In midfield, Steven Davis has been a rock for the Saints, working brilliantly with Morgan Schneiderlin.
CM – Schneiderlin
Which means the Frenchman, who has been utterly superb, also makes this XI.
CM – Adam
But the second man to feature from the Potters completes a midfield triumvirate, with Charlie Adam capable of being a game-changer at his best. Southampton have quality midfielders in abundance but Adam showed just what he is capable of against Swansea City last Sunday.
CAM – Tadic
No one can really compare to Dusan Tadic right now, though, meaning another member of Koeman’s squad makes the combined XI. Very few attacking midfielders can match the 25-year-old for creativity.
ST – Pelle
The same goes for Graziano Pelle up front, who has been a revelation since moving to the South Coast.
ST – Crouch
Siding with experience again, however, Peter Crouch has scored goals year after year in the Premier League and would form an intriguing partnership alongside the Italian.
