Southampton’s Nathan Redmond has told the Daily Echo that he has been very impressed by Liverpool loanee Takumi Minamino in training recently.

Minamino scored on his Southampton debut last weekend, with the Liverpool forward making a good early impression in his new surroundings on the field.

And it seems that his teammates have also seen just how good Minamino is in training recently.

“He’s settled in fine. The last couple of days in training, he’s showed his quality,” Redmond said.

“He’s a really, really nice guy in terms of a human being as well.

“He showed his quality on Saturday with a great finish and we are going to need more of that coming forward.

“He provides competition in that he’s come here to play football.”

Liverpool supporters and Jurgen Klopp are sure to be encouraged by reading Redmond’s words.

Minamino has struggled for game time at Anfield ever since he arrived, but the hope is that the Japanese international can make a big impact at St. Mary’s before returning to Merseyside a more confident player.

Klopp has already been keen to stress that Minamino’s loan does not mean that he isn’t part of his future plans at Liverpool, and if he keeps up his current standards then he is sure to grab the attention of everyone at Anfield.

Minamino’s next Southampton appearance could come at the weekend, when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.
