The Saints midfielder has done well for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side this term after spending last term away from St Mary’s Stadium on loan.

With Southampton preparing for two south coast derbies in quick succession, the players are putting in the hours on the training pitch, and a training-ground video clip of Sofiane Boufal shared by the club’s Twitter feed has gone down well with the Saints fanbase.
Southampton host Bournemouth in the Premier League on Friday night, while four days later comes the big derby, the trip to Fratton Park to lock horns with bitter rivals Portsmouth in the Carabao Cup, with a place in the fourth round and major bragging rights at stake.
Boufal has got game time under his belt this season after being shipped out on loan by Mark Hughes last season and being linked with a departure from St Mary’s Stadium this summer, and has done well so far, notching up two assists in the Premier League (Transfermarkt).
On Tuesday, the 26-year-old was filmed showing some neat footwork before unleashing a curling effort into the top corner from just outside the box, whetting the appetite of quite a few Southampton supporters who hoped to see something similar from the fan favourite in the next two games:
In the summer of 2016, Southampton broke their transfer record to sign Boufal from French side Lille for £16million (BBC Sport) and to date, the Morocco international has made 64 appearances for the Saints (Transfermarkt).
