The Derby County man would be a useful addition to the Southampton squad this summer.
Saints fans will be hopping that the appointment of Mauricio Pellegrino as manager this week will coincide with a new era, where their club keep hold of their best players.
Southampton’s Les Reed explained how Virgil van Dijk and Cedric Soares are not for sale, and will not be leaving St Mary’s this summer, when speaking to Sky Sports News HQ.
There are other names who could be leaving the club, however, as the new boss looks to shuffle his pack.
Dusan Tadic has been linked with a move to West Ham, according to the Evening Standard, and whilst Saints fans would not be happy to see him leave, they might just accept it as a compromise, as long as they retain their other star names.
Tom Ince celebrates
If the Serbian does eventually leave Southampton, the south coast club will have to make a move to replace the 28-year-old, and a useful addition for them could be Rams forward Tom Ince, who is believed to be a £10 million target for Huddersfield Town, according to the Sun.
The 25-year-old was superb for Derby last season in the Championship, scoring 14 goals and chipping in with six assists in 45 league outings.
Unfortunately for the east Midlands outfit though, his consistent levels of performance did not go unnoticed, with plenty of Premier League clubs being alerted to his rise within the game.
Ince is incredibly gifted from a technical aspect, and his direct playing style would add another layer to the Saints’ attacking play.
He is at his best when deployed in the wide right attacking role, but can be played anywhere along the front-line.
His goal threat would offer Southampton a more potent facet to their play, and would most definitely improve their impotent nature in front of goal – something that severely hampered their progress last term.
Whether the Rams would accept a bid of £10 million for Ince remains to be seen, but the Saints should not have a problem going even higher than that amount, especially if they receive the £15-18 million they value Tadic at.
And if Pellegrino does manage to bring Ince to St Mary’s, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance.
