Southampton midfielder Steven Davis has joined Scottish Premiership side Rangers
Southampton have thanked club captain Steven Davis for his ‘incredible’ service to the club after he re-joined Rangers.
The Premier League club announced on their official website on Sunday that the 34-year-old has returned to Ibrox on a six-month loan deal – his contract at St Mary’s is due to expire in the summer.
Under the recently sacked Mark Hughes and now Ralph Hasenhüttl, Davis only completed 96 minutes of league action as he returns to familiar territory.
Davis spent six-and-a-half years at the south coast club and Rangers supporters will love the appreciation his club have shown him upon his departure.

During his time in England, defensive-minded Davis played for a number of clubs, including representing Aston Villa at senior and youth level.
The Northern Ireland international made 306 appearances in the top tier of English football, scoring 17 goals and supplying 20 assists.
He now re-joins Rangers six years after leaving and will be hoping to help manager Steven Gerrard in lifting the Scottish Premiership title.
The Gers are level on points with their Old Firm rivals in the table as they made their intentions known when they beat Brendan Rodgers side 1-0 prior to the winter break.
