Southampton are reportedly pushing Lazio for an answer after making an approach for midfielder Alvaro Gonzalez.
Southampton are attempting to close out a deal for Uruguayan international Alvaro Gonzalez and may be able to take advantage of Lazio’s desire to streamline their squad.
It has been a summer of wholesale changes to the Southampton squad and Gonzalez could become the eighth arrival for Ronald Koeman.
Gonzalez offers versatility in the midfield as he can play in the middle, as a right winger or even a right-back if needed.
He featured in all four of Uruguay’s matches at the World Cup and caught the eye of Southampton, as well as reportedly being a target for West Ham and Queens Park Rangers.
Lotito may be wary of selling Gonzalez, but the Aquile need to trim their squad which at present contains 39 players.
Lazio may also be saying goodbye to French international centre-back Michaël Ciani, who is wanted by Lens.
