The Birmingham City striker has been compared to the likes of Ronaldo and Jermain Defoe.
Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has responded to a question put towards him regarding the speculation linking the Premier League club to Birmingham City star Che Adams.
According to The Sun, the Saints will make a second attempt to sign the prolific Blues striker this summer, but they will face competition from Everton, Burnley and Norwich City,
The report stated that Southampton failed with a £10million bid to land Adams in January while the Clarets also had a £12m package waved away, the 22-year-old’s starting price reportedly being £15million this summer.
Adams is enjoying a superb season for Birmingham, his 40 Championship appearances yielding a massive 22 goals plus four assists, according to Transfermarkt, and with the Blues unable to reach the Premier League next season, the 22-year-old could well decide to up sticks.
Hasenhuttl was asked the question by the Southampton media team, as per their official website, and his reply was: “I don’t want to discuss any personality. We were linked with him in the winter transfer period. We have eyes on a few young players who fit our shape and philosophy and we are mainly looking for younger players. First we have to be safe.”
Adams has been compared to a number of impressive strikers from past and present by some of his peers, with ex-teammate Omar Bogle describing him as a “more physical version” of Jermain Defoe, while Ilkeston ex-colleague Matt Baker lineked him to the retired Brazil legend Ronaldo (The Guardian).
