The midfielder was impressive for Southampton against Arsenal.

It hasn’t been easy for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg since joining Southampton from Bayern Munich as he struggled in his first season at the club and started this season playing U23 football.
Now, however, the 22-year-old is showing signs that he can establish himself as an important member of the Southampton side, with his performance in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal on Sunday especially encouraging.
The midfielder produced a lively display as he won the ball frequently and managed to create several openings with some precise passes.

Southampton were perhaps unfortunate not to take all three points from the fixture but Hojbjerg’s display offered much encouragement and indicated that he could soon flourish for Mauricio Pellegrino’s team.
Currently in 11th place in the Premier League, Southampton will be determined to perform consistently during the hectic Festive period to ensure that they don’t get dragged into a battle to avoid relegation.

Hojbjerg can help them significantly in that regard given that he can keep play ticking over effectively and can also, when the opportunity arises, play incisive through balls to create uncertainty amongst opposing defenders.
Pellegrino must be tempted to persist with Hojbjerg given that he enables Southampton to play with greater cohesion.
