Reading manager Jaap Stam is the new third favourite to succeed Claude Puel at Southampton.
Bookmaker Sky Bet had Stam as a 14/1 outsider on Thursday, but the Dutchman’s odds have been slashed to 11/2.
Stam’s former Netherlands teammate Frank de Boer remains the front-runner at 2/1, with Argentine Mauricio Pellegrino [7/2] sandwiched between the pair.

According to The Telegraph, Southampton plan to interview De Boer and Pellegrino, who are both free agents.
Hoffenheim’s Julian Nagelsmann has drifted from 6/1 to 20/1 in 24 hours, while Burnley’s Sean Dyche [15/2] New York City’s Patrick Vieira [8/1] and another Dutchman Louis van Gaal [11/1] are all now prominently placed.

Stam led Reading to the final of the Championship play-offs in his first season in management, losing only on penalties against Huddersfield Town.
However, the 44-year-old’s tenure hasn’t been entirely harmonious, and a move to Southampton – situated less than an hour down the M3 from Reading – would likely appeal.
