The Manchester United midfielder would be an excellent addition for Southampton.

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhüttl is thought to be keen on bolstering his midfield ranks at St Mary’s this month, having allowed Steven Davis to join Rangers on loan for the remainder of the season.

With his in mind, the Austrian should surely consider a loan bid for Manchester United’s midfield ace Scott McTominay, who could be available this month, according to the Daily Record.

The 22-year-old is a classy operator, and he would undoubtedly be a wonderful addition for the Saints.

McTominay possesses an impressive range of passing, and he is cool and composed when in possession of the football.

The Scot would be the ideal central midfield partner for Oriol Romeu, what with their differing playing styles, and he would surely be tempted into joining Southampton, rather than making the switch to Scotland.

Hasenhüttl likes his teams to play fast, free-flowing football, so United would surely be happy to loan McTominay to the south coast outfit.

He would learn a lot about playing regularly at the very highest level with Southampton, and in return, the Saints would be getting a supremely gifted player.

The idea of the Scot moving to St Mary’s makes perfect sense all round, and Hasenhüttl must act fast to make it happen.
