Southampton want Mislav Orsic but there are mixed signals emerging over a potential deal – or a possible hijack from Everton.

Croatia international winger Orsic has been heavily touted for a move to the Premier League this week.

90Min report that Southampton are trying to wrap up a deal for Orsic in the coming days.

It’s noted that Orsic is keen to sign for Southampton, seemingly believing that this is his final shot at Premier League action.

That report adds that Bournemouth, Everton and Nottingham Forest have all contacted Dinamo Zagreb to try and secure a deal.

Croatian website Germanijak now report that talks between Dinamo and Southampton have now completely collapsed.

Dinamo were stunned after hearing that Southampton’s first offer was worth just €5million (£4.4million), and the Saints refused to go higher.

Dinamo want at least €7million plus bonuses (£6.2million), meaning Southampton aren’t even that far away from a deal.

That report adds that Everton or Forest could hijack the deal with Southampton failing to get an agreement sorted out.

Mislav Orsic could give Everton a real boost

If Everton have £6million or so to spare on an attacker, Orsic may be their man.

The 30-year-old has been in great form this season, bagging 13 goals and eight assists in 27 games for Dinamo.

Orsic has scored against Tottenham and Chelsea in recent memory and he scored at the World Cup with a fine goal for Croatia.

Sure, Orsic isn’t a long-term solution for Everton and it’s still a big ask for somebody to go straight from Croatia to shining in a Premier League relegation battle.

Yet Everton’s current attackers are turning in close to nothing right now and unless they find a smart of attacking quality from somewhere, they will go down.

£6million for Orsic seems pretty reasonable and if a rival in Southampton won’t pay for him, maybe Everton should.
