Southampton are renowned for developing talented young players but there isn’t always room in the first-team for some of the club’s academy products.

One player who falls into that category is Harrison Reed, with the midfielder spending the season on loan at Norwich City having found regular playing time at Southampton difficult to come by.

Reed, whose composure in possession is his standout attribute, has benefited immensely from his time in the Championship so far and has produced some encouraging performances for Norwich, who are currently in 13th place in the table.

The 23-year-old scored his first senior goal when he found the net against Queens Park Rangers earlier in the campaign, and he has had to show his adaptability of late by filling in as a right wing-back.

Reed’s main aim remains to make the breakthrough at Southampton but if he is unable to fulfil that objective then he has a good chance of succeeding elsewhere, especially when his displays for Norwich are taken into consideration.

Norwich are back in action on Saturday when they host Middlesbrough, with Reed hoping to impress in that fixture.
