Young Southampton striker Sam Gallagher caught the eye again for Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, this time in front of the television cameras.
The 21-year-old scored with a thumping volley from the edge of the box to open the scoring for his side against Wolves in a match that was overshadowed by protests against the club’s owners by angry Rovers supporters.

Gallagher’s side could not hold on for a valuable three points as they were pegged back by a Dave Edwards equaliser in the closing stages. The 1-1 draw leaves Blackburn second bottom in the Championship, two points adrift of safety.
The Saints man has been one of the bright spots in a poor campaign to date at Ewood Park. After a goalless loan spell at MK Dons last season, Gallagher has found Rovers much more to his liking and now has six league goals to his name.
The goal was good enough to be named ‘goal of the week’ by the Sky Bet Championship on Twitter.
Elsewhere, defender Jason McCarthy played the full match for Walsall as the Saddlers earned a 1-1 draw with Coventry City.

The visitors took a first half lead in the West Midlands through Andy Rose, but McCarthy’s side battled back and claimed a point courtesy of an equaliser from Erhun Oztumer.

Down in League Two, midfielder Dominic Gape played 90 minutes as his struggling Wycombe outfit held high-flying Doncaster to a draw at the Keepmoat Stadium.
A Matt Bloomfield double ensured the Chairboys left South Yorkshire with a share of the spoils, though Gape is still looking to add to the one goal he scored for the club back in September.

Over in Spain, Paulo Gazzaniga kept his place in goal for Rayo Vallecano but could not prevent them going down to a 3-2 defeat at Tenerife in the Spanish second tier.
The goalkeeper has now played four times for his temporary side, conceding nine goals in the process.
