Southampton are amongst the contenders to sign Liverpool’s Danny Ings according to one bookmaker, while Wolverhampton Wanderers are outsiders.
Bookmaker BetVictor have listed Southampton as 6/1 contenders to sign Liverpool striker Danny Ings during the January transfer window, while Championship side Wolves are among the outsiders to sign the 25-year-old.
Ings has endured a difficult time since moving to Anfield, with injuries restricting him to just six Premier League appearances since the start of the 2015/16 season.
However, with the forward now back fit, perhaps it may not be out of the question to suggest that he may be more open to the idea by the time the January transfer window opens if he is still awaiting his chance – even if that is just a loan move.
But where could Ings be headed if he does seek a move?
Perhaps unsurprisingly, bookmaker BetVictor has listed Leeds United as the 4/1 favourites to sign the former Bournemouth man. ESPN recently reported that the Whites wanted to sign Ings, so it is probably not a shock to see Thomas Christiansen’s men leading the market.
Meanwhile, the Northern Echo recently suggested that Newcastle were considering reviving their interest, so, again, their odds of 6/1 may not be that surprising.
The Saints have struggled for goals this season, and Ings was on the club’s books as a youngster, so perhaps a move may appeal to all parties in theory – but perhaps it would also be fair to suggest that the seemingly strained relations between the two clubs would surely make a deal unlikely.
Meanwhile, Wolves landing Ings would be a major coup. But with the Championship high-flyers signing the likes of Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota in the summer, it would probably not be the biggest shock if they did manage to bring in a striker of Ings’ calibre in some capacity to help them as they look to try and secure promotion.
