The Saints held off interest from Liverpool in the summer, and are cashing in while his reputation remains high.

This could be an area in which Liverpool find Van Dijk exposed, given the way they are capable of dominating teams, if he starts to switch off.
The Dutchman will find his every move is scrutinised even more closely at Anfield than it has been anywhere else in his career.
His price tag is a world record for a defender and this will add to the pressure. How he copes with this and how he responds will be interesting to see, and he must lift his game after some disappointing performances for Southampton early this season.
Perhaps now that the ongoing speculation over his future is now over, Van Dijk can settle and lift his game.
