Southampton are interested in signing James Garner from Manchester United in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.
The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Southampton are ‘keen’ on the 21-year-old midfielder.
However, the Saints are not the only club interested in the 21-year-old midfielder, who spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Nottingham Forest.
The Sun have reported that Southampton are ‘one of several clubs’ who want to sign Garner if Manchester United decide to sell him or send him out on loan again.
Leeds United have been reported to be admirers of Garner as well.

Could Southampton sign Manchester United’s James Garner?
In our view, Southampton would not find it easy to sign James Garner from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
New United manager Erik ten Hag may want to take a close look at the youngster in pre-season training, and he could well keep him in his first-team squad for the 2022-23 campaign.
Moreover, Nottingham Forest have won promotion to the Premier League.
So, in our opinion, it is very likely that Garner will want to stay at City Ground and continue his progress, if he does not get a chance at United.
Garner made 39 starts and five substitute appearances in the Championship for Forest this season.
The 21-year-old scored four goals and gave eight assists in those games.
