In terms of biggest Premier League wins ever, Liverpool are now right up there.

The Reds hammered Bournemouth 9-0 at Anfield this evening for what was their most emphatic victory in the Premier League era.

In doing so, Liverpool have also equalled the record for the biggest-ever winning margin in this competition.

Before the Cherries, Southampton were on the receiving end of a 9-0 thrashing by Manchester United in 2021.

And here’s how the Saints reacted to Liverpool’s hammering on Twitter today, recording one of the biggest Premier League wins.

Has there ever been 10-0 in Premier League?

In a word, no.

This is the fourth time that there’s been a 9-0 in the Premier League, with Manchester United doing it on two occasions against Ipswich Town in 1994 and, of course, the Saints.

Leicester City also stuck nine past the St Mary’s Stadium outfit in 2019, hence why their reaction on Twitter to the Liverpool victory is rather genius.

Tottenham Hotspur also scored nine in a single Premier League game during Harry Redknapp’s time at the club, but Wigan Athletic got on the scoresheet in what was a 9-1 victory back in 2009.

More important than records are points, however, and this was the Reds’ first victory of what had been a difficult start to the new season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side had drawn two and lost one of their first three outings.

But as the adage goes, form is temporary and class is permanent.

And Liverpool certainly reminded English football that they’re an absolutely devastating outfit when they want to be, in light of this performance.

What’s even stranger is the fact Mohamed Salah wasn’t among the goals, something that shocked Pat Nevin during commentary on BBC Radio 5 Live.

Next up for the Reds is a visit of Newcastle United on Wednesday.
