Southampton forward Nathan Redmond has spoken of the buzz around the club’s training ground ahead of a big week for The Saints, speaking to the club website.

Claude Puel’s men host Burnley in the Premier League on Sunday, before a mouth-watering trip to the San Siro on Thursday to face Inter Milan in the UEFA Europe League.

22-year-old winger Redmind described the players’ excitement at returning to Staplewood following the international break.

Redmond told SouthamptonFC.com: “I think Thursday summed it up, with the buzz around the training ground. Everyone was excited to see each other and get back to work and that showed on the training pitch and will hopefully lead into the game on Sunday.”

Redmond helped England’s Under-21s qualify for next summers European Championships in Poland during the break, with wins over Kazakhstan and at home to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“It was a proud moment again, to obviously get called up, but to then finish up qualifying for the finals next summer,” Redmond added.

Domestically, Southampton have won three of their last four outings and in all competitions have not conceded a goal in 540 minutes of football, since losing 1-2 at Arsenal in early September.

Despite only scoring on his debut at St. Marys, Nathan Redmond has enjoyed his newly-discovered role as part of a front two and is raring to go once more.

He finished: “I went into the international break coming off the back of a good run here at Southampton, and to go away, winning another two games, we’re on that winning high at the moment, so I’ve come back in good spirits and am ready to work hard again.”
