The Saints academy graduate has got off to a great start for the St Mary’s side this season.

A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the Saints’ exciting update about academy striker Dan N’Lundulu, who has agreed terms on a two-year contract extension at St Mary’s Stadium (official website).
The 20-year-old, who only signed an extended deal in the summer, has been rewarded by Southampton for his early season form, having scored four times for the club’s Under-23s thus far, with a deal until the summer of 2022.
N’Lundulu was also included in Ralph Hasenhüttl’s matchday squad for the 1-1 draw with Manchester United in August, and although he is yet to make a first-team appearance, he continues to be monitored by the coaches and is hopeful of featuring at some point this season.
“It’s been a target for me, my family and my friends for a long time,” N’Lundulu told the official website. “After all my injuries I’ve come a long way, so it’s an exciting moment. I’ve just got to keep going now.
“It’s a great academy and there’s no better feeling than being at this club. I’ve been scoring goals in the Under-23s, so hopefully it’s well earned. Being around the first-team just gives you motivation… that makes me want to work harder to be in that situation again and next time hopefully come on and do what I do well.”
Here is what some Southampton fans said on social media regarding the prodigious young marksman’s new deal:
With Hasenhuttl having utilised several academy players since his arrival at St Mary’s – Yan Valery, Josh Sims, Tyreke Johnson, Callum Slattery, Michael Obafemi and Kayne Ramsay to name but a few – it bodes well for N’Lundulu’s hopes of also making the step up in the coming months.
