The Saints confirmed on Friday that Krueger would be leaving the Premier League club.
Southampton have confirmed the departure of chairman Ralph Krueger in a statement posted on their website and social media feeds on Friday morning.
The Canadian arrived at the Premier League club in 2014 to replace Nicola Cortese, but his contract was set to expire in the summer.
Following talks with shareholders Gao Jisheng and Katharina Liebherr, the statement said all parties agreed to the contract not being extended beyond its end date of 30 June.
“The shareholders and everyone involved with the club would like to put on record their thanks for Ralph’s leadership, dedication and hard work over his six years with Southampton,” added the statement.
At the end of the season, the club will say they release more information about the future leadership structure, but at present, the club’s battle to stay in the Premier League will be the main focus.
According to the Daily Mail, it is understood that Krueger has left the role with immediate effect.
The Daily Echo, meanwhile, believes that vice-chairman Martin Semmens will step in to take control of the day-to-day running of the club and is the frontrunner to take charge on a permanent basis.
